So, My spdif is not working anymore. Here's my set up: this is the mobo im using http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131025
For a month or so the spdif coax needed to be twisted to output at all to a standard receiver across the room into the dig coax input. I use this setup to watch movies on the tv and to output sound to the home speaker system. To solve the twisting/bending problem, i ordered this http://www.monoprice.com/products/ [...] 1&format=2 and connected it all this way -> mobo's toslink -> optical out converter converted to coax in -> then into the coax dig in on the receiver. Now, no matter what I do with the realtek drivers or ffdshow codec or changing the receiver settings or using the same settings i was using before are all not working. the converter does light up and beams the optical light so I believe its in working order but the sound is gone! Can one of u gurus take a quick look above to see if i did something obviously wrong or have any thoughts about the probable culprit? Thank you for your time :) -Spencer

Stupid question: have you tried using a different cable? That you had to specially orient when you first used it points it out to me as faulty.
