Drives Not detected

I am getting an error during bootup on a Windows XP Machine that tells me it can not locate the drive.
I plugged the HD into another computer and now the other computer shutsdown after a few seconds into the bootup. Is it possible I have a BIOS virus and I transferred to my second machine?

There's a reasonable chance you are right.

There is a bios back-up and repair kit at:

It's probably worth checking out before you try it on a 3rd machine as it now seems 2 machines have been compromised
