Thats great news!
This will drive the hd4870 1GB prices even more down, so I can pick up a second hd4870 sooner than I expected!

Cheers

just as ATI are about to take back the performance crown, they try and get rid of old stock

yay, looks like amd is going to be forced to take another price drop to the 48** cards. But I dont think that many people would by this one with the 4870 and 4850 being so cheap.

Doubtful, since the 4870 already had a price drop last week. The retail for 4870 will be $150 soon, which is still cheaper than the 260

That is for the 512 MB versions.

I am looking forward to the price drop for the 1GB version. Do not doubt the power of competitive pricing.
ATI has always offered a cheaper solution than Nvidia, so I would not be surprised if they also lower their prices after Nvidia makes the move.

216=4870 1gig, so nVidia better keep dropping those prices to catch up. Good to see nVidia finally realizing this too.
