Looking through the web, I observe that the newly launched AMD Phenom II X4 955 seems to be offered in 2 versions: "standard" and Black Edition.

Can someone explain if these are really 2 different products, and, if it's the case, what is the difference between the 2 products?

All of them are Black Editions, as far as I know. That means that they have an unlocked multiplier, so you can overclock only the CPU and not worry about other components.

If you search the web for this CPU, you will find articles referring to it as the "AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (or BE)" (most of them I think), and some others referring to it only as the "AMD Phenom II X4 955" (without the "Black Edition" or "BE" designation), such as this one:

My question was precisely: are there 2 different versions of this CPU, or is it just a matter of semantic (the "Black Edition" designation is sometimes omitted, although the discussed CPU is in fact always a BE one?

Ok, it's clear that, at this time, there is only one type of AMD X4 955 and it's the BE.

Let's close this topic. I think that my question has been answered.
