I have a system built with an Asus A7N8x-E Deluxe motherboard that worked fine set up as RAID 1.

I'm trying to disable RAID 1 and just use the two SATA 120GB drives separately. I'm not worried about any data on the drives. It's an extra machine that I just wanted to do a clean install of Windows 7 RC on and play around with the news system.

I thought I had disabled the RAID in the BIOS. I took out one of the drives and reformatted the other drive on another machine, but when I try to reinstall Windows, it say I have no drives connected. The drive is recognized on the other machine but can't see it on the machine I'm trying to reconfigure. I've trying installing both Windows XP and Windows 7 RC, same result.

Any suggestions. Is there a BIOS setting I'm not seeing. It doesn't seem to be the drive because it's been formatted and recognized in another machine.

Thanks,
bob

Could you try formatting the other drive, and see if it's recognizable on another machine? You may also want to try mixing up drive connections and cables (i.e., swap ports, cables, etc.)
