Low End Option
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=9066125

High End Option
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=12393068

Wondering if PS will be o.k. for Q6600?
Would you guys change anything else?

Any help is appreciated!

What will your friends be doing with said computer?

If he is going to game, that 9500GT will not have enough gusto to get the job done.

Low-End:

Change the mobo to GA-EP45-UD3L or UD3R, PSU to Corsair CX400, HDD to Caviar Black 640GB, and GPU to HD4830, Windows to Home Premium.

High-End:

Change mobo to GA-EP45-UD3P or UD3R, CPU to Q8300 or Q9400, GPU to HD4830, Windows to Home Premium.

Thanks for the replies!

He won't be playing any games (COD4 etc...) and no Blu-Ray playback.
Mostly it'll be used for multitasking and he won't be upgrading for at least 2-3 years. That's why I want to built him nice system that will last for some time.

I've modifed setups per theAnimal's suggestion.

I've left 9500GT because I think it'll be o.k. "in case" he decides to play some game (Please suggest anything better).

Will 4GB of memory be fully used in Vista? or do I need 64Bit. I do not want 64Bit version do to driver issue with printers etc.

After modifying original version now even High-End option is exacty within his budget and that's inc. shipping.

Please feel free to suggest.

Thanks!

Thanks again!

I've updated High-End Modifed with HD4650.
Now, if that's the case with 32 bit would do you think about doubling memory to 8GB (4 x 2GB) and getting Home Premium 64 bit version?
