I am getting closer to picking a case, I think, but I need some more help. My mind has hard time sorting out which features are more important and which ones I should give up. I know everyone's taste is different, but I will try to highlight what is important to me. This list is not exhaustive and there is room to adjust, so if you have ideas, I'd be happy to hear them.

system:

core i7 920
asus p6t deluxe v2
geforce gtx 285
1-2 hard drives
1 optical

cooling features I want:

120 mm fans or higher only
mid tower that does not have a cramped area, for better airflow
goal would be 2-3 slow fans moving, but with this system, i know that might not be enough
good cable management for better airflow

quiet features:

.8 or 1 mm steel, or thick dampening (no pure aluminum cases)
no top fans or holes, but it seems most cases have this. I don't like seeing a spinning fan
no side fans needed for cooling if possible
no side vent holes if possible
room for large heatsinks (and fans if necessary) on cpu and gpu
good grommets for hard drive cages

looks features:

not black if possible, but i know most cases are black, so thats fine
usb, esata or firewire ports in the front, not on top
no door is preferable, but not a high priority

If I picked a case today, it would be a p182 or p183, but I would prefer no door and don't know if this will have enough cooling, so I just want to make sure if there are any other close options out there.

Next option would be cm 590, but I think this would be too noisy for me.

I assume that the sonata family cannot fit this video card, or are just too cramped.

thanks!

I used CoolerMaster 590 cases when I built six pc's for friends, neighbors, and girlfriends. It's a very good case for a general purpose pc. However, the entire front is perforated mesh. In addition, there is perforated mesh on the top panel for two extra fans; perforated mesh on the side panel for extra fans, and perforated mesh on the bottom panel for the psu fan. The stock case fans are average.

You might want to take a look at the the 590's big brother, the Coolermaster 690. It's a very popular case and it is supposed to be fairly quiet.

Silverstone FT01. You are going to have to pay upwards of $200 for that kind of case, but it most closely describes what you want.

Like I said, the FT01 is about as close as your gonna get to your description.
