What are the symptoms of a faulty pci ex16 slot.

guys while playing call of cthulhu it suddenly freezed.and i had to restart the system.today also it happened once then i restarted the system again but the display was weird even the mobo name which splashes at the startup before windows screen was badly displayed.
(like the display you see when the overclocking of the card goes wrong)and it was not overclocked


then i logged in safe mode uninstalled the display drivers restarted the system again.everything fine.

installed recent drivers started the game again.again it freezed and this time when i repeated the above steps nothing happened still i get those kind of display.

eg:-watch closely those lines.drivers uninstalled still problem is there.

now when i removed my gpu.everything is fine again.please help.



see those yellow parallel lines.now it even is not letting me install the drivers properly.

keep zooming this image you will notice those lines.

this is a recreated image of what i get when i start the system with the card installed with its drivers.it is almost 70% similar to what i get.

i have asus p5gl-mx

now i am confused is this a gfx card issue or faulty pcie x16 slot issue.
i took my card to the service centre and they said it is fine problem might be in your pci ex16 slot.still i am not convinced.

please help
