250 hdd in acer

Hello,
I have a 250 ide hdd instald in a acer laptop, mmy acer see only 137 gb on this hdd, why?

is part of it taken up by recovery record/partition? is it formatted properly? some sectors could have been damaged

It's the old pre-Service Pack 3 XP behaviour of failing to see a disk larger than 137Gb. I can't remember if you can fix it on a disk which already has your system and files on it without losing everything. You could try DiskParted or FDisk, or use a Linux OS to Partition it without losing anything.
