Is the article true about ddr2 ram as well or is it complicated and different?

I have 4gb of ddr2 ram + 1 GB DDR3 in my gpu do i need a 64bit operating system to take full advantage?

yes!

with a 32 bit windows operating system your total memory, including video memory can only total 4 GB. With 4 gigabytes of system memory and 1 GB of video memory, you will lose 1 GB of system memory.

you can see this in your control panel system.

unless of course you are using windows7 32 bit. then, it will see more than 4 GB, however, Ive read that it wont actually use more than 4 total.

is there any evidence to back it up using ddr2, will games be using more than 4gb soon and did tom leave out games that use alot of RAM out?

TY for the response

no game uses 4 gigs of ram.

the only thing that going to take advantage of mass amounts of ram (for your average user) is going to be your operating system. vista and windows 7 cache large amounts of the operating system and frequently launched programs in ram. so everything launches faster.

actually not all of your video memory counts against the system memory, only a fraction of it
my 1GB 4870 only uses a little over 16MB of memory space
