Hi everyone, I have a Gigabyte GA_965P-DS3 MB and I want to update the BIOS so as to support the E8x00 chuips.

I currently run a Raid1 and would like to know if updating the BIOS will destroy my Raid? How much if any bios settings will change? If so, can it be recovered?

Also, if I do replace the CPU, will Windows XP have a problem? What kind? Can it be recovered?

Thanks,
Mac

To my knowledge, flashing BIOS won't have any effect on your RAID, you might loose all BIOS settings (not sure, I always reset my BIOS to defaults after flashing to be sure nothing funny happens).

If you change CPU, there should be no problems with OS.

You will be asked if you want to save your current bios when flashing with a floppy, and with most windows flashing programs. If you're worried, save the old bios to a floppy or to the "my documents" file. And changing cpus doesn't effect windows or change your raid setup.
