I built a new rig and the system would freeze up and the sound would go crazy. It started happening when I'm in a game, (ie. Left 4 Dead or Spore) But now it's happening even when I'm not gaming, albeit rarely, but it still does. It's very annoying.

I've read some articles but I don't think it's a PSU issue. I have an Antec Trio 650 watt and I don't OC. I'm running 2 HD3870's in Crossfite, but this happened even when I was running 1 HD3650.

HELP!!!

Have you checked the temperatures on your CPU and GPU? Are all your drivers up to date? What is the rest of your system's specification?

My CPU is running at about 20-22 and GPU about 49. I've got the latest Catalyst drivers for my set up.

I'm running XP x64 with 4GB DDR3 1600.

I can't think of what else that could be causing this.

XP 64 has alot of bugs! It's probably the worst OS I've ever used. I'd bet on that.

What would you fellas suggest? Go Vista x64 or try Windows 7 x64?

Reply to Hsuperman

If you can get a copy of vista, it would be the best option right now. when windows 7 comes out, that is probably the way to go.
