Will PCI Express 2.0 x16 video cards LIKE THIS still work (at a degraded level perhaps) in a motherboard LIKE THIS that only has a PCI-E x16 interface

  1. yes, pci-e 2.0 is backwords compatible with pci-e 1.1 (x16). you might see a slight performance drop with that card but nothing too bad.

What are the rest of your specs? The cpu may become a bottleneck for that card
  2. Thanks for the info, it will save me some cash for a little while.

    CPU is a q6600

Well the MB and video are linked in the OP, The system also includes:
    CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - Retail
Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
And a nice aftermarket CPU cooling solution and a 650W PS that I cant remember the makes/models of at the moment.
