Want to replace my old AMD 4800x2 for new. My mobo is dead. Got 4 years out of it. I have around around $550 usd. Was thinkin Asus Rampage extreme, intel q9550, and 4 GB Corsair Dominator ddr3 1600 at 1.8v. Its for gaming mostly.

And what, you're looking for someone to tell you you're wasting money? That you could get the same performance from cheaper parts? Well, you could look at Tom's Hardware's motherboard shootouts to see that.

And what's the point of 1.80V DDR3? You can't take it with you in an upgrade, and DDR3 doesn't make Core 2 Quad systems any faster.

Actually that is what I was looking for. There was no question really. I was looking for more of an opinion. It looks like a Asus p5q deluxe , q9550, and 4gb of Corsair D ddr2 1066 will do the same thing then at $100 cheaper. Thanks.

Yeh, that is a great board for a lot less money.
