Hey all,
I'm new to these boards and building PC's in general and am looking for some advice. I've been searching for the different components I want and here's what I've come up with so far:

CPU: Intel QX9770
MB: ASUS P5N64
Video: Nvidia 9800GT(X?)

That's about as far as I got and am looking for info on other components. I'm trying to build a medium-high end computer that will keep me "ahead of the curve" for years to come.

Go with a cheaper CPU and more expensive GPU.

Nonono, never by extreme procs from Intel, they cost a fortune, and you can just increase your fsb!! Get a mobo with higher fsb than your proc, and just increase it to under the rated max for your mobo. Temps on your NB and SB should still be safe, just get some decent memory @ 2 times whatever fsb you'll be using ex. 800mhz memory for 400mhz fsb.

If you wanna unlocked multi because you can't do math (honestly, OCing with FSB is easy with Intel stuff), then get a Phenom 720. ALWAYS get unlocked multi with AMD, since just about all their boards are rated for 200mhz fsb, so if you OC the fsb, you'll fry something...
