This has been an ongoing problems for years now. I can not burn CDs. I have tried different brands of blank CDs. I have tried burning from different programs (Windows, Nero, iTunes, etc). I have replaced the DVD Rewriter drive. I have done a complete system reinstall. Nothing has fixed it. Please help!!

Thanks. Recording is enabled on this drive. I ran both of those Window fixes and it came back telling me "Drive is not capable of burning (HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H54L)" and that was it.

The drive is a LG recorder. Before it, the Dell drive that came with the machine had the same problem. There has got to be something else to this problem besides the drives.

I think the problem is that it's being recognized as a DVD-RAM drive.

I'd suggest looking for a BIOS update first. That would explain why the OS reinstall and different drives haven't fixed it.

I think it is a DVD-RAM drive. It is an LG GSA-H54L DVD+R and DVD-RAM.

However, like I mentioned, it didn't work with the original Dell drive either.

I updated the BIOS, but it was no help.

I would suggest trying to find a DVD+-RW drive, and see if that works. Other than that, I'm out of ideas.
