I've read up such a motherboards that can do this which would come very much in handy because I do replace memory and I don't want to waste any? I think that there are motherboards that do other auto diagnosis such as to detect condition of the motherboard itself, CPU, or other components. I don't know if they'll replace the cases & battery backups that detect temperature or other things.

Best solution

a b V Motherboard
a b } Memory

Normally that is a function of server grade hardware. If you want, you can run memtest (freely availble - just google it) from a bootable disc and perform a check on your RAM.
