Hello,
I have XP, rather old PC. No sound at the moment. All of a sudden. It happens from time to time. When I open Control Panel and Sounds and Audio Devices it says: NO AUDIO DEVICE.
I would appreciate if someone could help.

What does device manager say, under hardware for sound, video, Game ?
It sounds (no Pun) like there are no drivers installed for controller & speakers ?

Hello aladin and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

An intermittent loss of sound would seem more likely to be a loosely connection sound card than a software problem. If sound is integral to your motherboard, but a PCI sound card. If you already have one, reseat it but if neither works, I recommend a USB powered external sound card - they seem to cure all ills, are quite cheap and come with their own driver mini CD.
