What res you wanting, games playing?

planning on the more advanced games but can't afford the really good high end cards and the board only works with pcie 1.0 cards

Graphic cards that are PCIex16 2.0 are all backwards compatible with the 1.0 socket. You'll have no problems running the newer cards. What's your $ budget? Your power supply? What resolution (example: 1680x1050) will you be running at ?

not looking to spend more than $200 on the card,my psu is 750watts and the resolution some where that 1680x1050

The 4870 is a good choice.

The 4870 is a great choice, but if you are a Nvidia fan, then you should go with the GTX 260 Core 216 Super-Mega-Uber-WhateverOtherWordThatMeansBig Overclocked Edition LOL
Alright, but its just called the GTX 260 Core 216. Either one is a good choice, just whichever is your preference.

Thank goodness :D
Another one for the home team LOL

Crossfire means 2 cards. If you're really intent on going CF and want to spend only $200, then get 2 4830 512s. Otherwise, 4870 1GB
