I have some of my old RAM that used to be in my current desktop.
I need to test it it still works.
If it got fried somehow, could it kill the Motherboard.

Er, if ANYTHING went wrong with RAM [ nothing specs-wise is off ] like it was killed or got something on it, could it kill a motherboard?

If you see physical damage, then don't install it. On the other hand, inserting defective RAM shouldn't damage the motherboard.

What "something" does it have on it? If it's conductive, then make sure that it's thoroughly removed.

You can test the Ram to see if it works on your Motherboard.

Try Memtest on line for free. I believe this is the website http://memtest.en.softonic.com/

I was going to type the same thing. any physical defects , then do not use otherwise just test the ram with memtest from a floppy

Bad RAM shouldn't kill the motherboard.

However, the motherboard uses a simplified version of the programmable switch mode power regulator that provides power to the CPU. If it is working into a shorted RAM chip, who knows what can happen?
