The 4830 should provide some nice acceleration for a low price.

Bingo!

+1 for shortstuff_mt's list. Good build. If looking to save $ OP could drop the Velociraptor.

yeah that build is perfect for your needs. maybe more ram would be nice, but probably not completely necessary.

------------------------------ ECS A780GM-A, Phenom II x3 710, 4GB Corsair @800Mhz, HIS Radeon 4850, Seagate 7200.11 500GB, Auzentech X-Plosion 7.1 Cinema, LiteOn DL-DVD w/Lightscribe, ASUS TA-863, OCZ StealthXStream 500W, Samsung Syncmaster T240, Windows 7 Ultimate x64

This RAM is $75 less.

A Caviar Black 640GB performs nearly as well as the Velociraptor for $120 less.

A Corsair VX450 is slightly better (Seasonic built) and more than enough power.

Do you have a monitor already? If not, that money would be better spent on one suitable for photo editing.

------------------------------ *How To Ask For New Build Advice*
HAF 922 | HX750
Rampage2Gene | i7 920 D0 | 6GB Gold 1600 | Hyper 212+
Caviar Black 640GB | HD3870

Probably the HP LP2475W

I noticed that you have recomended the intel cpu. If I can get a AMD 3.2 quad for less, is that going to be better? If not, why? What should I be looking for in a processor? Does photoshop really make use of a quad chip or just one chip at a time?
