Computor wont boot passed Bios

This is a home built 4 yrs ago. Last week up-graded cpu to a 3.4ghz and nVidia 6800XT graghics card. worked good. This week up-graded memory from 2gig to 4 gig. Can only get to bios settings, won't boot up, 4gig memory shows up in bios settings. Have to pull battery to reset bios before each boot. Replaced battery with new one, still have to pull battery to reset. Once in get a message cmos checksum bad hit F4 to run set-up? When I hit F4 monitor goes black no beeps heard? Any ideas?

Please list full specs. 3.4Ghz? I'm not aware of any 3.4Ghz stock CPUs... E8600 is 3.33Ghz, and E8700 isn't out yet?

Sounds like bad memory.

Have you verified the voltage and timings are correct for the RAM?

Tried putty old memory back in same thing. CPU Intel SL7CH. (P4)
