After running some tests using the wattage calculator, and some advice from people here telling me it's enough, my paranoid mind still refuses to be satisfied. I am trying to run an OC 4890 from XFX. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Power supply is as follows:

Is on it's way now. It should be here by friday. Here are my other components.
Antec 900 Case (Stock cooling, no extra fans)
3x USB Devices (Logitech G7, Nostromo N52, Logitech G15 *Original type*)
1x Verizon Fios router (irrelevant?)
1x Maxtor external hardrive that is off most of the time.
1x Acer 22" LCD Monitor
1x DVDRW drive
1x SATA(?) Hardrive. 250.1GB Model : WDC WD2500KS-00MJB0
Inter(R) Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 (3.0 Ghz)
4x Gigs of patriot ram (I cant remember the type, sorry.)
1x MSI P35 Platinum Combo LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard
and of course, the coming addition to my
1x XFX ati 4890
Is my supply really sufficient for this setup? What happens if the power supply isn't good enough; can it damage my components?

So, what would you suggest I get to replace my old PSU? Something I was considering doing at first until I was told by people on this forum that I should be ok with this?

First, the psu in the photo is an Ultra V Series 500 watt power supply. The +12 volt rail is rated at 28 amps. Not exactly a high quality, high performance psu.
Second, an ATI Radeon HD 4890 (1GB) video card uses about 285 watts at full load according to the Tom's hardware review of the card:

A high quality power supply in the 500 to 500 watt range can easily handle any single video card made. However, based on the power requirements of the 4890 video card and the technical reviews of the Ultra power supply, I would recommend purchasing a brand new high quality power supply.
EDIT - Although Corsair has a solid reputation for high quality power supplies, the TX 750 is overkill for your system. The TX 750 was designed for use with mutiple video cards in dual SLI or dual Crossfire mode. All you really need for your system is the Corsair VX550. It has a single large +12 volt rail rated at 41 amps. It can handle any single video card made and quite a few mutiple card configurations:

Thanks a lot for the help, I don't really plan (or have the wallet... or patience) to deal with any SLI / crossfire in the future. I'll go ahead and grab the 550w on ebay and hope that I've gotten good advice this time, though looking at the review; it is difficult to refute any words said here.

Did I actually type in ebay? Im sorry, Ive been trying to sell my refurbished 8800GT, so I probably typed that without realizing it.

Hm, with the buy.com 30 dollars off, and the mail in rebate, the PSU would be a real bargain, unfortunately, Im pretty sure Im not eligible for the 30 dollars off being that I have the Amazon iteration already. Still, it's a good deal... If you dont mind getting a visa cash card thing.
Also, does the 550VX have two 6 pin connectors? On the specifications it lists a 6 pin PCI-E and a 6+2pin PCI-E (Whatever thats supposed to mean).
