My son just attached a Samtron 77V monitor to his HP desktop system which is running Windows XP.

When he booted, after a few moments he received the message "Sync. Out of Range" in a box that floats on the screen which is otherwise black.

Any thoughts? Do we need to add a driver or is there some other set-up matter to consider?

Is the monitor using a VGA or DVI port to the PC? If you are using a VGA it might be set to digital in which case you need to switch to analogue mode using the monitor controls and vice versa.
