I've read you should use 99% isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth to remove original thermal paste if you're going to apply aftermarket.

Will it be a big deal if I use 70% isopropyl alcohol?

not really, they want you to use that so the area will be completely clean/sterile, before you aply the new stuff

The 70% should be fine, however I still prefer 99%, when I'm out I use the 70% for backup ;) .

I actually don't even use alcohol. I just take a cotton towel and rub off the thermal paste.

I've never found 99% at the store before.

I've used 70% four times now without any trouble.

Good luck!

You will be fine with 70%. 90% is just stronger and dries faster not that it takes long anyway. Do use alcohol though it cuts through the oil from your hands as well as whatever else may get on it.

For those that can't find it i buy 91% at wal-mart.

I think that 99% has to purchased from a pharmacy, but not quite sure on that.
