im plannig in getting a gaming pc..i have a 17" monitor

whats the difference between a 512mb and a 1gb video card? whichs better?

for example, 9800gtx 512 or 9800gt 1gb?

The 9800gtx 512 will be overall better. The only difference between 512 and 1 gb versions is if you play at a high resolution the extra memory will kick into action. The 9800GTX will be enough for your 17" monitor.

512mb is more than enough.

1GB is good for 2560x1600
