Old computer not recognizing DVD-RW

Hey,

I have an old computer(HP Pavilion 7950)
My DVD-ROM drive recognizes normal DVD's but not DVD-RW. My newer computer recognizes both types absolutely fine.

bro that's such a n00b question. but could the difference be your new computer has a DVD-RW and your old one has a DVD-ROM. thats why it doesn't recognize blank media, its not meant for it.
