Hello everyone, I am in need of some info.

I have a pc that is roughly 3 years old, and I REALLY need a new graphics card. I have decided on getting the Nvidia GeForce 9500 gt 512mb.

This will be the first video card I ever buy, so I'm not very educated as to what I need to look for to determine if my pc can support the 9500.

My pc specs are here:

*I have 2 gigs of ram, and a new power supply installed.

The motherboard specs are here:

The Nvidia specs are here:

...and the one I am planning to buy is here (also with specs):

Basically, I just want to know if I can run this card.

Thanks!

rxurien one question on the mobo, given the spec's you have provided it looks like that board doesn't have a pci express x 16 slot am I correct or not.if it doesn't have it you can't us the 9500 gt.

sorry RxUrien did not see the ati 300 card.just take it out and you can us a pci express x 16 card.yes the 9800 gt or the 4670 should work if the psu you have can handle it.lol

Your MB is Micro ATX, so check it and your case can use a full size card, some can, some cannot.
I`d be a litle cautious about buying from a Far Eastern Ebayer, check their feedback carefully before making a decision.
If you live in the US, I`d advise you to check the prices of the HD4650, it`s a far faster card and can be found for a similar price if you shop around (Newegg or TigerDirect are all I know, sorry I`m from England;))
Anything over a HD4670 is going to be too much, your processor will not keep up with it see the charts for relative performance here;

Hey thanks for the response!

That is what I was wondering as well. It lists a PCI Express card, but it's not free. As you said, the x300 is using it, and if not, whatever is will have to go. As long as I can get a better card than the x300 to work, I'm happy :D

I hope the PSU can handle it, otherwise I may need a new desktop :p

Thanks again!

Hey thanks for the reply!

I'll definitely check out a card closer to home, as well as the ones you listed. Having an ATI chipset, it would make sense to buy an ATI card.

That link you provided is a huge help. I'll be doing some more research before I finalize anything.

Thanks a lot for your help! :)
