Being a computer novice, can someone help. When I turn on my computer I get the following message: Alert! PCI express card is operating in X1 mode. Strike the F1 key to continue. What can I do to get my computer going straight to my desktop screen?
Thx Paul

Hi

Try this, pull the video card out. Unplug your PSU and hold the power button in for approx 20 sec while touching the metal part of the case. Now make sure the card is seated properly and attach the power cable if this applies to you. My guess is the card was not seated properly. If you are still getting the same error message post back with the mother and video card model#. We'll need find out if your PCIe slot is compatible with the card.

Or, if said card is meant to be in x1 mode, go into the bios and disable "f1 on error" or "pause on error" or something similar.

Thanks for your responses.
The computer is about 4 years old and was working perfectly until about 3 weeks ago when this problem started. My computer was infected by a virus and had to buy, what I call a sweep and clean-up ptogram from PC TOOLS. That took care of the virus. Could those events have contributed to the problem? Thanks.
