System:
Lenovo Thinkpad R60
Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 @ 1.86 GHz
1GB DDR2 667 MHz

In system, it says 987 MHz. I assume that is the FSB, but specs say the CPU should have 667 MHz FSB.

I am trying to figure out if my processor is being overclocked??

I want to upgrade the RAM, and would like to get a good 1:1 speed match between CPU and RAM.

Would it be best for me to add a 2GB stick of DDR2 667?

If it would be a large performance enhancement, I could do 2 x 2GB sticks of DDR2 667, or would 800 be a better match??

Any help with this is appreciated. I just want to get the best RAM choice and have my system running as well as possible.

That is the probably the speed the processor is running at.
Speed Step, I think that is what Intel calls it, underclocks your processor to save on power when it's not needed. On laptops, the settings are especially agressive to conserve battery life.
Yes another gig or two of memory would help. Just get exactly the same kind you have. You don't need to worry about trying to upgrade your memory speed, on a laptop it is pointless. But as I said, more memory would be helpful.

That's what I figured. So is it worth the extra $25 to get 2 sticks of 2GB?

Basically I could add 1 stick for a total of 3GB, or ad 2 new ones for 4GB.

Is it worth it? I don't run anything too intense on this pc..
