My Q6600 ( g0)has gone to 77 Degrees after stress test and idles at 60 degrees. All at stock clocks.
Is it good coz the temperatures r real hot outide here in India. I cant afford 2 get a new case coz i am investing it in a Graphic Card.
Mine is a dell inspiron 530. Here is the pic of realtemp:

Please help. Is there any way to colol it down. Even the present GPu 8300GS is too hot.

I shouldn't let your CPU hit 77c!

Are you running the stock intel cooler or is it one of these Dell custom made coolers? That would be my first suggestion.

Yeah, if I were you I would go for an aftermarket cooler, something like a Artic Freezer Pro 7 but at the moment I have a Xigmatek S8312 and I am very happy with it, if you do have a dell custom cooler then I would suggest water cooling, If you're in India that would be your best bet :D

Idles at 60c? Thats to hot. 75c for load is just as bad. The only good way to bring the temps down is to either cool your room (AC or swamp cooler) or to use a better heatsink/fan. You can also try undervolting the CPU, that might help as well. Its like overclocking, but in reverse. (if this is a new build, double check that you installed the heatsink correctly.)

I dont have an Ac in my room. Will fit it later. But i cant use a new heatsink or something coz i am about to upgrade a GPu. My friends P4 runs at 75 Degrees at idle . He didnt have any problems till now. Hows that possible????????
SO am i on a better side????

The temps are pretty high on idle. I had a Q6600 and not even on load it didn't have so high temps. You don't have too many alternatives. I don't think you can change the cooler so the only thing that you can do is to increase the air flow of the case and have a lower temp in your room.

I would try to undervolt the CPU. It will run slower, but at least it will survive. If you let it idle at 60 and load at 77, it will die. Any chance you can get some case fans in there? Might help.

because your friends P4 is a totally different CPU then yours. there are 3 option IMO you can do

get a better fan.heat sink
see if changing the thermal paste will have any effect
call dell and see what they can do

My overclocked Q6600 (the older version that runs hot anyway) hardly hits that under load... something's seriously wrong there.

Check to see if the fan is actually working, make sure the heatsink isn't clogged up with dust, then do some of the things other people suggested that I can't be bothered typing out again.
