alright, so this is my 2 box 6 screen build, with the help of transmaniacon and proximon, we've (more of them two and less of me lol) been able to establish pretty much the outline of this build, there's probably still alot of things that has to be discussed, im hoping with the help of the public it can be one badass, professional gaming/work computer,

i'll be doing alot alot ALOT of graphics designing, photo editing, 2d/3d modeling, movie editing(mostly clips of my work) game testing, and general gaming(65% of my time would be game testing and gaming) and the occasional burn of a new released movie( or cartoon show 0.~) oh, and i burn alot of music to disc

so this is the gaming rig and what's gonna be in it, if you have any ideas or comments on how a part or piece could be better please feel free to tell me! MONEY IS NOT A PROBLEM! so im really really really looking for the best parts money can buy

Forgot to mention, i'd like to overclock both systems in the future!

Here is a good portable external, pretty small and thin which is nice.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Depends on how you define carry haha, this one is pretty solid, bigger of course and requires a power plug.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Depending on how much space you need, a high capacity flash drive could work well too, this is 32GB!

For backups though, I would suggest that 1TB WD.

Alternatively, for a backup external, you can buy an enclosure and your own hard drive and put it together. This lets you customize things a bit more, for example:

Also, for the gaming rig, are you going to SLI two 295s? If not, then I would suggest GTX285 SLI, you have better driver support for the single GPU cards and often times they scale better.

Thanks, i'll be getting that black 1TB WD, it shall rule all lol,
and yeah im gonna SLI the two, i think it would be better, but if you think it would be a better idea to get the 285, then yee, as i said before, i just know the basics! XD
February 20, 2009 3:28:56 PM

I would change the Q6600 to Q9400. Faster, cooler and it has SSE4.

If you're only running one video card in system 2, change the PSU to TX650. It's slightly better (Seasonic built).

You'll definitely want a better monitor for photo editing and graphic design. The monitor for your gaming system would be perfect, or HP LP2475w.
February 20, 2009 3:47:15 PM

edited cuz it was a lame response and yeah lols dfla;jaoni
but i changed to the Q9400!
also, i'd be needing 4 monitors for the second build,
if i changed from the samsungs to the hp LP2475w, would i have to change the graphics card im getting also?
if i could, and wouldnt have to change anything, i'd rather upgrade from the 4 22's to 4 24's lol,
but if i can't, that's alright too.
February 20, 2009 3:55:01 PM

No, he was saying the Corsair TX650 is made by Seasonic.
February 20, 2009 3:57:48 PM

The PSU is Corsair.

Actually I typed the wrong monitor above, should be HP LP2065.

The graphics card is fine.
February 20, 2009 4:06:24 PM

Oh, well excuse my stupidity, i didn't know that! thanks for the tip
February 20, 2009 4:37:44 PM

ok cool, edited and changed,
i'll read over that thread later tonight, i trust your judgment with the hp's over the samsung,

would i be able to get any touch screen's that are good for photo/graphics work?
or would they be low in reso/quality?

regarding the 30inch screen, if money is no concern and you truly want the best parts, try this NEX 3090WQXI 30inch display.

The LCD thread at Anandtech recommends the Dell 3007WFP-HC for gaming.
February 20, 2009 6:50:26 PM

Get a 120HZ LCD and use it for gaming.

Can't go wrong with either a 3008wfp or a 3090WQXI.

February 21, 2009 12:04:08 AM

alright, thanks for all your imput! im still not sure what to use for the monitors, everything you all said flew right over my head! but i'll dig into each monitor's specs you suggest!
and thanks proxi, i changed it, but i'd like to use that cyber sport mouse, i think it would be a great tool to do alot of editing and i think i'd benefit from it! i could just switch mice when i game right?
February 21, 2009 12:47:33 AM

Yep, switching mice will be easy enough.
February 21, 2009 1:33:02 AM

ok cool,
do you have any ideas on a good graphics/media monitors? i've been doing some, not alot but some research into monitors, and they have my head spinning at the moment!
and for a good gaming monitor?(x2)
February 21, 2009 2:14:11 AM

hey nice, my teacher gave these out when i started my program, but he took it back after i graduated lol,
i think i will just get the intuos 3, looks real nice,
that would make it alot easier,
now i just gotta choose a size lol XD
February 21, 2009 2:27:54 AM

February 21, 2009 4:13:06 AM

hey i just noticed, my multi tasking pc doesnt have an SSD?
February 21, 2009 6:22:26 AM

so, im still looking for a single desk mount that can hold a 30'', preferably one that can go into portrait to landscape, i'll need two of them,
thanks in advance!
February 21, 2009 6:32:35 PM

Hey just wanted to say that I like your choice for gettting the NEC 3090's they are really nice. I am actually typing this message to you on the one that i have. You will never regret it. I tried to decide for the longest time betweeen the nec and the dell and finally decided to spend the extra money and go with the Nec. I am extremely happy with it...

By the way thought you might want to know that I am a video editor/motion graphics & lately a web page designer. I got the Nec becuase i read somewhere that the dell doesn't do well with fast motion. You might want to look into that.... I do like to game occasionally lately only C&C red alert 3, and havn't noticed any ghosting or any problems with any of the video i have edited. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the monitors (I wish i had been able to ask a few before).
February 21, 2009 8:40:17 PM

alright cool man,
i don't really have any specific questions, i've read alot about them when anti posted it, and so far i really like it, i checked out some gaming vids, and it looks pretty good too, you have more then one nec 3090??
February 21, 2009 9:58:50 PM

No I only have one 3090. I wish i had another but i bought a dell 2408 about 2 years ago and decided to just use that one as my secondary. The one thing i will say is that these baby's get hot so make sure you have good ventilation in the room where you plan on using them. At full brightness they actually radiate enough heat to feel it on my face if i am leaning forward... Hope that helps
February 21, 2009 10:09:40 PM

ahaha, iight thanks for the tip! i'll move this setup into my living room, one wall is entire glass, (where my balcony is) so it should stay pretty cool most of the time i hope!

man i hope more people comment, i really need this comp up and running asap!
February 22, 2009 2:17:06 AM

I'm Guessing that since you said in your post money is not a problem, that you are never going to be buying either of these systems and its all just for fun. Lets just assume that you actually have the money to purchase both systems, why would you split the money into two systems? If you really want to spend lots of money why you split it between two rigs when you could blow copious amounts of money on just one and dual boot it. Shoot you could even get a SSD raid 0 for each OS, with all the money you would save. You could buy the extreme edition i7 and get 12gigs of ram 3 gtx 285's and so on... Just a question?
February 22, 2009 2:25:34 AM

One last thing if money is no real option why would you not watercool? Get a good watercooling setup and do it yourself or buy this case...

http://zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?Idx=30...

I only mention it because it was the most expensive i could find on short notice. It looks nice....
February 22, 2009 8:14:33 AM

yeah i was thinking that, but then i heard there was quite a few ways to make my comp cool, and didn't know which one to do,
so, if i were to watercool, think you could help me set it up? i havent done watercooling before, and i'd prob need help on how to do it, and what's a good watercooling setup to use (not a question, well technically it is, but im just saying i dont know what's a good watercooling setup***)
i dont really want to change my case on either builds because i wouldnt know if it would be compatible with my current setup, but if you know for sure i wouldn't have to change my setup and only my case, then, if your willing, maybe you could look for a better case? you said since the short notice, maybe you could take a few extra min or something to find something compatible with my build, i was hoping to find something that can light up or something, (only cuz i know nothing of this sort, and i like the fancy lighting!) i would greatly appreciate it!
February 22, 2009 8:16:38 AM

actually, that case you just suggested, i like it alot, would it work with both my setups? (and by both setups i mean, could i use two of them instead of the ones i have atm?)
February 22, 2009 8:58:39 AM

ah, i should really pay more attention, i looked over the cases, and realized i actually have an atx motherboard lol,
so yeah, DOH ....
February 22, 2009 9:18:17 AM

doh, i just now saw that other post you put up,
im actually going to be buying this rig, both of them,
and i have no clue what raid 0 is, or what it does,
i just posted and people replied, so i'll be sending out an order for all these parts
and it should be up and running in the next month or two, hopefully, once i confirm it's all done,
February 22, 2009 9:47:35 AM

I have nothing much to add. It would be a good idea to swap around the cases though. Be sure to get the correct water block for the i7 and GTX 295.
February 22, 2009 9:52:14 AM

alright cool man,
which water block would that be? (aggain sorry for my lack of knowledge in this!)
February 22, 2009 10:01:45 AM

i did a quick search, and am completely lost, it seems that there's different water blocks for different coolers? i really need to learn more about all this,
where did you go to be more informative about this proxi? (just out of curiosity)
February 22, 2009 10:23:14 AM

The overclocking section of the forums here has a guide and links.
February 22, 2009 9:03:07 PM

oh sweet, i'll look over it right now,
thanks again
