Parted Magic - Secure Erase

Forum Storage : Hard Drives Parted Magic - Secure Erase

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience in using parted magic to perform an enhanced secure erase?

I have initiated an enhanced secure erase on my WD 640GB hard drive, parted magic informed me that the process should take 30-180 minutes.

However how can I tell how far along the process is, or even when it has completed?

Thanks

Sorry I can't help you, but I thought I'd chime in about something similar.

I have used DBaN in the past, and once secure erased a 500GB HDD, on a SATA I port, it took over 9 hours to erase it, they way DBaN does it (3-7 passes).

So 30-180 minutes ain't to bad.
