Hi there,

Quick question today.. Just wondering what the most powerful 95W Phenom processor is for AM2+, if anyone knows?

I've seen 2.3GHz X4's, and I think 2.6GHz but I'm yet to see anything higher. I've read that AMD should be bringing out 3GHz, 95W CPU's, but I haven't seen these anywhere yet.

I ask because my motherboard can only take CPU's up to 95W.

Thanks in advance,
A.

You'd have to wait a bit, till the PhenomII X2 gets out in the wild. It should prove to be the best 95W rated AMD processor.

According to Fud. around early June.

Here is an early preview of the processor:

Oooh wow, looking good.
Thank you :)  Might have to wait eh ;) .

I'm after the best I can great for my summer build as I'll have two GTX260's and don't want a crap CPU holding them back.

The tripple core 720BE is the best 95W part out. Too bad your board doesn't support 125W CPUs, but the 720 BE should be a decent upgrade once you overclock it. I wouldn't expect better 95W parts until September. Even though there will be new dual core CPUs coming out, they probably won't have much better overclocking potential than the 720 and alot of newer games will show some benefit from the extra core.
