Dell 2400 memory upgrade help

Have a dell 2400 did have one 256 stick in it. Upgraded to 2 512mb After turning back on monitor stayed in power save mode and key board light did not come on. Put 256 back in and everything is fine. Thanks in advance. Doug

Did you get memory that was compatible with your desktop? That's the only reason I can think of, why your desktop refused to start up properly under 512MB.

Yes, bought memory for dell 2400. I also thought I got the wrong memory. Do you know if all the dell 2400's could take diffrent sticks? Most people selling them will sell them for the 2400 so I guessed they were all the same. How do I find the right one? Thanks

Found out one of the sticks was bad. Tried them one at a time and only one worked.
