Nice job TheOKAY, looks good !

If in your future adventures, see if you can lower your HT Freq. to x8 or 2064 and remain stable. Your rig may need what it needs, but most have found little benefit from raising HT much over 2200 or so..

Well done !

BUGGER :fou: ............... :)

Well out of pure boredom I decided to roll the dice on a 145. Managed to luck out and get a healthy x2 4450e.

Good at 3.8/1.44.... http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/7516/445038prime.jpg

Took some adjusting for 3.9.... http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/3889/44503915214.jpg

hey guys i plan on joining the club soon and will post my results

however.

I was just wondering what are some benchmark temps i should be looking for when on a 965BE when OCing it (i.e. try to say under what temp?)

I am just getting my Hyper 212+ installed now and i am gonna be getting a 2nd fan for push/pull right. i IDLE around 30-33C and load at 45-47C when running at 3.7GHZ (200*18.5x)

but yah just wondering what is a safe temp range for a Phenom II X4 965 BE CPU!

THANKS!

Hi jasonp12

Temps below 60C are good for ur CPU.

October 25, 2010 4:38:09 PM

ok

now heres a weird question for you

i read in a toms review that for OCing a Black Edition CPU it is good practice to shut c1e off and Cool N Quiet (both have helped in overclocking) and have had no effects on my load temps

however my idle temps went up from like 27-29C or like 32-35C is that normal because C1E stops CPU throttling?

October 25, 2010 4:41:24 PM

C1E was designed for the 1st Phenom generation and that's the reason for disable it when u OC a Phenom II series.

Cool'n'Quite is only useful when ur CPU is on idle but in load the Coll'n'Quite doesn't work.

The temps changes are normal since not always the fan cooler run at the same speed and the case temps are in the same level.

ok thanks!

now i was reading the guide then reading this post

in the guide it mainly states sticking to raising the multiplier then when that fails increase voltage if you wanna go higher if not raise the FSB ref clock to get a fine tweak.

i see in some of these overclocks people have upped their NB frequency what does that do exactly? in AOD there is an option to up the CPU NB Multiplier what exactly does it do i havent touched it yet

ohh yah and what test are you guys running on prime95?

balanced small large or a custom?
m

October 25, 2010 5:26:43 PM

I would run linX myself, but not for temperature tests. It doesn't bring my cpu temp to as high of values as prime95 but it does find instabilities rather quickly especially when you set it to use all of your ram.

Run the large test.

But I prefer LinX with "All" selected.

got a download link for LinX? and whats the advantage of LinX over Prime95?

and as TheOkay said isnt Prime95 better for temp reading?

whats the advantage/diff between linX and Prime95?

Both are very similar, but with LinX u can select the amount of RAM that the stress tech will use and the time that this will run while prim95 doesn't have that options.
m

October 25, 2010 7:07:57 PM

ahh ok now in LinX how long do u need to run linx for and what are some good options for it? It basically looks/sounds like a newer/better version of Prime95?

should u be using ALL your RAM when doing an OC stablility test?

i didnt see an option for a timelimit i just saw an option of how many tests to run........
m

l
October 25, 2010 7:32:44 PM

nevermind i figured it out u click on tests to run and change it to minutes hahaha...

also what should u use for problem size? should it be the option that it defaults to when you select all?

and if thats the case anything i need to set under settings?

For problems size leave it default and for memory to use select all.

so if it survives 1 hour on LinX with All selected its prob a stable Overclock?

Just installed my X6 1090t BE on my ASUS M4A785-M budget board the other night. What a sweet chip it is! I've had some practice on oc'ing my previous cpu (X4 945 95watt), so oc'ing this black edition chip is much much easier :)

Ran some benchmarks when first installed and idle core temps at stock settings was 17C !!!!! 5C cooler than my previous 95watt 945 :ouch:  This is on a Zalman 9500A 92mm cooler (not the best cooler, but not bad either). I was just a little confused that at default stock settings, the HT link runs @ 2200mhz and NB @ 2000mhz. Everything I've read about oc'ing states that HT/NB ratio should always be HT less than or equal to NB (but still no full understanding as to why) Anyone care to comment on this?

Current settings for now are: Turbo Boost (disabled), FSB 200x19 = 3.8 Ghz @ 1.39v, 2000mhz HT link on auto voltage, RAM @ 5-5-5-15-24 800mhz @ 2.1v, and everything else on AUTO. Ran Prime95 blend test last night and woke up this morning and stopped it at 7+ hours with max temps @ 43C! (sorry no screen shot as I was running late for work :D  )

With current settings, it idles @ 21C (cool and quiet enabled). Next adjustments will be to the NB (2500mhz target value).

Errrr.... Buy.com is kind of iffy, I wouldn't buy it from there mainly because of there known history of entanglements with customers. I think newegg is the best way to go. The 1050T though, that's in the books for my next budget build. Mainly because it folds 11k on 3.5ghz which is really minor of an OC. whewwww.
