I have an HP comp with a GeForce 6150SE chipset ( Nforce 430 ) and I want to clone it into a newer comp. that comes with a GeForce 9100 chipset. I would use an Acronis disk image.
Would it even boot to the point where I could then load the proper driver package?
The reason being that I have a dual boot Vista- XP Pro and I don't look forward to manually loading everything again, plus in the event that i had a machine failure in the future, I could just restore either machine to the state of the main one.

I've had a motherboard replaced on a computer before, and no one touched the hard disk. When I booted up, everything loaded properly, and I only had to insert the mobo disk when Windows asked for the chipset drivers. Maybe you can do what you want this way too?

Thanks. Sorry for the slow response.
Yes, I will try this. You have a good point in that the O.S. should have enough drivers to get to the point of being able to load the chipset drivers, etc.
I'm gonna do it!
