I have caught a bug, and cant seem to leave the idea alone......

it all started with this.......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNoZDIzo_hw

and now I am seriously pondering the idea.

For you uber gamers and computer guru's please lend me your experiences and thoughts

My current rig is...

q9450 mild oc 3.1ghz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] %20formula
(striker 2 formula mb)
4 gigs of ram
currently 2 8800gts 512's in Sli

I currently own a samsung 226BW "22 flatpanel 1680X1050

here is what I am thinking.....

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824001254 X2

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814150334 X3

or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814143167 X2

Do I need to purchase also or is there a cheaper and satisfying alternative to this?

I am a big fan of X3 as shown in the demo (wow what a beautiful game) Fall out 3 ect, so any insight into this gratuitous waste of my hard earned cash would be appreciated.

Thanks for your thoughts!!

You can run three monitors with only 2 GPUs. You might want a 3rd GPU to handle the other 2 if your have your cards in SLI.

I currently have 2 22" monitors and have 2 8800 GTS's in SLI. They work just fine. I thought the new drivers allowed for more monitors.

Make sure you have the 180 drivers or above that support SLI and multiple monitors.

What PSU do you have?
If you are planning on running the latest games at high settings I would suggest the 2 GTX 295's.

Its not a good idea (i mean the setup in the video) I can't think of any resolution which is wierder than that. Do you really think you can play FPS on 3 22-inch monitors at the same time? 2 might be ok, but going 3 is pointless. Almost definitely you're image will get stretched. Did you see the gauges on the GRID video posted by the same guy?

X3 would/will be awesome with huge/multiple monitors!!!

I Really appreciate the replies!

I am using a 1,000 watt PS

I am sure your correct on the stretching but from the few vids I saw on youtube the images looked pretty impressive, you maybe right, but it looks good, and for me atm viable, as a $4,000.00 Alienware screen just doesnt fit any budget I will see anytime soon sadly lol. I missed the gauges in his vids other than the sli guage will go back and look and see what else I missed.

Thanks for the driver tip on the 8800's hadnt even thought about working with the cards I had, was afraid they might not be up to it. Does the dual monitor setup work well for you or does the split in the middle between the monitors bother you?

And if I do this really hope X3 looks good, am just blown away by some of the game visuals.

Thanks again!
