The 9800GX2 isnt WAY more powerful, but at that resolution im sure it beats up on the GTX 285. However the card is hard to find nowadays, its not even sold on Newegg anymore.
GTX 285 is worth the extra $30. The XFX model is $330 on newegg. So far I love it, its alot more smooth and stable than the 4850 crossfire setup it replaced.
i don't know what the rest of your hardware os but I play crysis with an over clocked GTX260 and don't have any problems @16x10. A 280 or 285 should be fine............... 9800gtx = JUNK ! Doesn't have the memory ( 256 ) to handle tough games. 256 + 256 does NOT = 512.
Yeah, with prices dropping on 4870, you could get two hd4870 1gb cards for sub $400.
I have one hd4870 1gb and I run COD 4 maxed at 1920x1080 smooth as baby's butt. Now for Crysis I run it at 1980x1080 but with no AA and at Gamers Settings. My frames stay in the 42fps range.
