Hello,

Just got a question about my framerates.

I've got an XFX 9800 GT , slightly overclocked, PDC/ C2D E2200 @ 3.0 GHz, 3 Gb 667 ram, etc.
My 3DMark06 score is just under 11000.
In COD4/5, I get an average of about 50 frames maxed.
Crysis, on High settings at 1440x900, I get an average of about 30 frames, with significant jumps. Is there any way to smooth these jumps out? I'm running 1.2 .

This is all on XP, fresh install, brand new build.

There really is nothing you can do that I can think of except maybe lowering graphics quality. Even then you will still see some jumps, but your average frame rates will increase.

Sadly, Crysis is not a very well optimized game. I've read Crysis: Warhead is better optimized, but sadly it has DRM which limits you to 5 installs I think before you need to call EA for more installs. Therefore, I have never played it. EA may have removed that DRM feature since it has been out for a while, but I lost interest.

Do you have Vsync on? At least then they will match you monitor's refresh rate (and it can smooth out jumps somewhat as well). Also, I know some games have frame limiters in the config files. No idea about Crysis though.
