Suggestions for new i7 build

CPU: AMD 5000+ Black Edtion

CPU Cooler: Zalman Cooler

Mobo: Asus MS2-N

Ram: 2gb G.SKILL Ram

GPU: ATI Radeon X800

Hard Drive: Western Digital 1TB Green (media) & 60gb Seagate (OS)

Case: Thermaltake Full Tower Case






What I want to get running for HD Video editing/game design.


CPU: Intel Core i7 920 = $279

CPU Cooler: ZALMAN CNPS9900LED 120mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler = $74.99

Mobo: EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 ATX Motherboard = $299.99

PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W Power Supply - $129.99

Case: Antec 900

Ram: G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 = $94.99

GPU: EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512-P3-N871-AR Video Card = $80.00 (after rebates)



Total Price: $1,099.93




Is there anyone who runs an i7 who can inform me of what their system specs are as I am still looking into getting the i7 system going.

I'm collecting parts for a build and specs are similar to yours.

* If you have a local Microcenter - you can pick up an i7 for 230 bucks til the end of the month. They have put a couple days this month where it drops to 200.00 then bounces back to 230. I picked up my CPU today.

Where are you getting the EVGA GeForce GTX+ for 80 bucks. That same card is selling at NewEgg for 115 AR ( Free World at War video game included ). I'd be interested in one at that price.

add it to your cart and it will come up with the rebate offers. Oh and I live in a small town near Santa Barbara, so the closest fry's of mircrocenter is 2-3 hours either way...

Edit: I see what is going on here. It it still 115.99. The card is only $80.0 but they factor in the World At War in the price point. Sneaky!

im getting the evga e758 tr for $270 and the only difference with the a1 is the warranty. a1 has a lifetime and tr has a 2 year. so if you don't care about the difference in warranty get the http://www.tomshardware.com/terms.htmltr for $30 less

do you plan on overclocking?

and that PSU is overkill even for SLI with that card, not tri SLI though but if you were going to do tri-sli you wouldn't buy that card.
