Do you believe that Windows 7 Professional is worth the money?. I mean compared to Windows Home Premium.

I have Windows Home Premium and it does all that I want, so for me the answer would be "no". But if you particularly need any of the features of Professional then only you can decide what that is worth.

I plan to purchase a new laptop. Win 7 Pro is $30.00 more.
I am just trying to see if it actually has more features. I always try to keep costs down when adding final features.

Thanks

Ah - well have a look here. Are any of those features worth $30 to you? Do you want to join a Windows domain, or encrypt your file system? I suspect for most home users the answer is "no". It might just be worth it for XP Mode if you have any programs that won't run on Windows 7 - I haven't found any yet.

^Agreed. Only XP mode or EFS, and BitLocker may be worth anything.

Since OP can have 3rd party (open source) apps to do any encrypting no need to get Pro imo. If you really want encryption, take a look at TruCrypt.
