Unexplained shut-offs. Help?

hey this is the same guy with the same problem as before. this site deactivated me idk why. that's why I'm anonymous . My new Rig is shutting off for no reason I can find.

antc 900 case
evga 780i mobo
evga gtx 260 video card
corsair 650w psu w/52a on the +12 rail (should be fully compatible w/video card)
kingston memory 8gb
samsung dvd drive
2x wd 500gb caviar black hdd 7200rpm
intel core2 duo cpu 3. something ghrz


I have no idea and would love to hear what you think this could be.

Shutting off completely? With no warning? How often?

yes. every time I turn it on. A different amount of time goes by each time tho.

Probably a short somewhere.

I don't think any of those are my problems because I've gotten it to boot and everything and even installed windows but it still shuts off. . .

That's possibly because as things warm up inside the case something expands and makes contact with something else, causing a short. This will vary depending on ambient temperature and the stress on the components creating heat.

When the short occurs the power supply detects it and shuts down instantly.

You need to do what you can to rule out that possibility first.

hmm. . I see. that makes sense. one time I got it to stay on and I just left if alone all night to see what would happen and it was fine in the morning until I started the windows performance test.
