Hi all.

I got a question to all folks interested in answering...

Could someone explain this:

You have to zoom in pretty much to get what I mean...
I will return the CPU to the shop tomorrow but can anyone tell me what the frak is going on :D  ?

Is it even possible to damage the Socket 775 CPU like that ?

Ive been working in computer repair shop for a while and never got something like that before... I know the 775 slot can be easily damaged but this ?

I kindly await any reply...

I assume you're talking about the scratch. It is possible if a person is careless enough. I hope you didn't get that as a new CPU.

I got it out of the box mate. Was careless enough not to check ... It was BOX after all ... All should be fine. I can't imagine how it is possible to even scratch it like that. I mean there is no way to do that. Got it out of the box, opened the tray Placed it in the socket closed the tray. Thats it. After that attached the damn Intel fan. As I said... No problems at all on the way... LGA775 secures the unit pretty well...

Btw... what Do You think about that blackish crap on the edge of it? What the hell is that ... CPU guts ? :D

I never even considered the cpu might be faulty ... I thought it was the mobo ... http://www.youtube.com/18bssg

If it was new, the Intel box seal should not be broken. If the seal was broken then it was swapped out by someone.

If you got it new, then I'd contact Intel for an RMA.
