Not sure what you are looking for here...did you already buy and build this PC? Do you just want an opinion of what we think of it? I am going to assume this is the case and give you my honest opinion:

My opinion is that you should have gotten the UD4P or P6T mobo instead because that one is short several features that I would want. You also should have gotten more ram since you got a 64bit OS, and you will have to toss that kit of ram when you upgrade because you don't have enough slots to add another 3gb kit, so you kinda wasted your money there. The HDD you chose is slower than ones I would have bought for cheaper, namely the WD6401AALS. Also I would have gotten a better PSU, that one is mediocre quality and you could have gotten higher quality for the price. If you wanted a gaming rig, then you should have spent your money on a Core 2 Quad or PII 940 system instead and put more money into the GPU, the only reason to go for an i7 is if you either have tons of money to spend (and you obviously didn't) or you need it for Video rendering/editing or CAD or Photoshop. If that is the case then you should have gotten the GTX 260 which is better for those apps than the 4870, as well as more ram 3gb won't be enough. You also should have invested in a CPU cooler so you could overclock that CPU to get more performance out of it, which would help justify the amount of money you spent on it; Without a cooler you can't overclock which is a complete waste on the i7.

So I spec'd out that build...roughly $1100 at newegg without the case, after rebates and shipping...ouch. I really hope for your sake that I read your opening post wrong and this is just a system that you are considering building, but it sure doesn't sound like it. That build will have a rough time playing new games on resolutions higher than 1440x900 at full details and AA. For that price you can build a PC that will play all games at resolutions up to 1920x1200 without a problem with all eye-candy turned up. The time to ask is BEFORE you buy, not after.

First off, ocz platinum's need to be at 3x2gb.. you arent going to get much out of just 3x1gb sticks,

secondly, you picked a gigabyte 48701gb over the sapphire 48701gb...
idk why..

gigabyte.

Wow, that was a brutal undressing of your system!!
I just hope you haven't already bought it lol

If you have already built this system, the first thing you can do to improve it is buy a good heatsink (see Proximon's sticky) and overclock that badboy!!

Don't think it would be good to oc a i7 with 3x1gb of ram..

and a crappy graded gigabyte 4870.

What? It doesn't matter about the amount of RAM, only the speed.

And what has the 4870 got to do with anything? Just because he has a
"crappy graded gigabyte 4870" doesn't mean he shouldn't overclock.

I'm assuming the OP has already bought this stuff and trying to suggest a way he could improve it without replacing the stuff he's just bought.
If you're going to post, give him some useful advice. If he hasn't already bought these components then he's already been told it could be better and recieved suggestions earlier in the thread

You don't know what you are talking about. Neither of those things have any effect on overclocking the CPU. I have told you this before but apparently you didn't heed it: educate yourself so that you know more than the people you are advising before you offer advice. It doesn't help the OP to get advice from people who know as much or less than they do. They come to these forums for the advice of people who know something about the topic of building computers. I don't understand why you continue to flaunt your ignorance.

Yeah, I heard the Samsung DVD burner prevents overclocking too - apparently it reduces the multiplier to 5.0........seriously Fullmetal youre a moron

Completely untrue! Samsung DVD Burner unlocks the multiplier--it's the HDD that decreases it.

In all seriousness though, let's not get on him too hard. But Fullmetal, do watch the things you say. New people to the forums generally expect anyone posting in response to their thread to be highly knowledgeable. It would be a shame if he left thinking not to OC his computer, and never did, because of seeing your post.
