I just found this http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/v [...] html#sect1

Compares an I7 and Q9650 at stock speeds and overclocked to 4GHz.

Instead of a single 295, put 2 275, since they're the same, but the set of 275 is cheaper.

i7

Hyperthreading, and some D0 steppings have reached past the 4.3ghz mark.

but if you make a video of both game you see difference can you see that the i7 920 will do it better then q9650

I7 is better overall, but if you're not going to OC, then clock speeds matter more and the Q9650 will be better.

Did anyone actually read the review? It showed the i7 920 beating the Q9650 in most tests.

Definitely go for the I7, you cannot compare clock speeds over different architecture. Higher clock speed is not allways better, it is like comparing a 3GHz pentium D to a 2.4GHz core 2 duo, obviously the core 2 will outperform the other. Hope this helped

I think Q9650 is stronger non oc in games by a bit small bit i believe but over all the 920 is a better cpu for things like transcoding and synthetics etc out side of gaming.

I'd go with the 920 and sli 2x275's

Deep breaths everyone.

i7 is a better solution, simply for the sake of upgradability. For games though, the difference between the two are minimal, at best. If money is not an issue, go with the i7.
