They are both better. Anytime you buy AMD or Intel, their bottom line (ie profits) are better. With that in mind, pick a side, become either AMD fanboi ir Intel fanboi and join the battle waged in the Tom's Hardware cyberspace.

We're a little short of Intel fanboys lately. I'd recommend that side.

Wait 'till i5 tips up, that'll get them crawling out of the woodwork.

^ no it's just that cjl and psychosaysdie aren't as fanboiey(sp?) anymore.

I thought OP ask, "what is butter?" Then I read, "cpuses" somehow. I got to thinkin' butter and cpuses. Who cares which butter is better. Someone is at the door. Must be the escort service.

Does the MB affect the CPU?

If Windows 7 is coming out next? What happened to 1 through 6??? Kind of like preparation H, what happened to A through G?

I guess these will be the questions if Tom ever starts a new site "Tom's Software", lol.

3.1, Windows95, 98, ME, XP, and Vista were the first six. But NT and Windows 2000 don't count according to MS for some reason.

No, most of those are non-NT versions. I'd say it would be based on the NT line.

I can't for the life of me remember where I read that, but I'm pretty sure that the N(ever) T(ested) line doesn't count.

I can't see why it wouldn't. Windows 7 is based on the NT 6.1 kernel.

After doing a bit of googling the consensus seems to be that W7 is named after the kernel revisions and not the previous versions of Windows.

^ that still doesn't make much sense because it's based on the 6.1 kernel.

Reply to Helloworld_98

I never said it made sense , hence why there is a bit of confusion as to why W7 is called W7.

Reply to mousemonkey

it should be called Windows 6.1
