I have an galaxy 9600gt 512mb .Today while I was playing a game my display went away although there was power in my cpu .Then I rebooted my pc and found that my gpu temperature had risen up to 120 degree Celsius .Somebody Please help
The man from whom I bought my pc (my pc engineer) says that i would have to buy another power supply worth $80 as my current power supply can't give enough power to my 9600 gt gpu and as a result the gpu fan is unable to do proper cooling. Please tell me if this is right and would it help me. My pc specs are

e8400 @ 3.00ghz
galaxy 9600 gt with single slot fan
4 gb ram

and i keep it on like 24/7 :D

It would be great if you could tell me which power supply to buy.
Somebody Please help .Also my graphic card is still under warranty.

Theres no Wattage on it anywhere?

There has to be, look for the sticker and read it,

see what the 12v rail is and check the wattage, a 350w-400w should be able to power it no problem, but, if it has a really low rail then the amperage could be bombing on you.

No offense, but I don't buy the PC Engineers story. A gpu fan only consumes around four watts, and a PC will fail to boot from insufficient power far before the fan fails from insufficient power.

My bet is that the fan on the 9600 gt has failed or the heat sink is seated badly. Check if the fan is indeed spinning on the card. If not that probably is the problem.

Yes the fan is spinning very properly

Do you have a Heatsink on th cpu? if so, check to see if it's out of place, but, 120c sounds bad. sounds more than just a fan. I think amperage could be shorting out.

Interesting. When did you purchase this system? Also, did you move or bump the PC prior to this problem?
