which nvidia series 9, GTX and GTS series is comparable to the 8800GT? hence the title cheap yet powerful.
could you give one example of GPU for each series...

9800GT is, in fact, an 8800GT. No, I don't mean it's "like" an 8800GT, or "comparable" to an 8800GT... no. It IS an 8800GT, just overclocked a bit. Take that same 8800GT / 9800GT and die-shrink it / give it a little boost, and you've got yourself a 9800GTX+. Which, coincidentally, is the EXACT SAME THING as a GTS 250. Sure, you'd see a decent upgrade going from an 8800GT to a GTS250, but for a nice boost, I'd really recommend a GTX 260 Core 216 at least. You can get really good deals on them these days.

8800GT = 9800GT = GTS 250.

They have similar performance because basically they're the same.

wrong. a gts250 is a 9800gtx+ rebranded. i dont know where you get that a gts 250 performs like 88gt/98gt
