Northbridge Overheating!

My NB is running at an all time high around 75-80C at idle all of a sudden after more than a year and have crash my comp several time this month due to overheating. When I open up my casing to inspect, the heatsink connecting to the NB isnt hot at all. Is there something wrong with my heatsink?

Im running on MAXIMUS II Formula that comes with its own NB & SB cooling system.

Your board has screw on heatsinks, so it's rather easy to remove the heatsinks to clean, re-apply tim and re-install.

Add a fan to blow across the NB fins.

When I first got my current motherboard, I had a similar problem. To solve it I:
re-applied thermal paste
put a dedicated fan on the heatsink (just used som insulated wire to hold on an old fan from a pentium II)
got better ventilation for my case
